Sleep to Dream

a Poem by soma

should i to sleep -
and to sleep, put end all the rousing of
my mind, and of my heart -
that soulful ache that rattles every
corridor of this vessel that i have
for so long called my home -
and yet a place to me still so foreign as
i have not even been discovered of all
my cracks or windows or doors.
aye, to sleep, and more, to dream -
that is the hope at least,
in this slumber i am able
once more to live those things that have
since been turned to memory's sand.
o, to dream, such wonders there,
and in my dreaming find a peace
i have some way had denied me -
that i have lived these years full
and yet withheld the comforts
of my heart's labor.
to dream, and in my dreaming
remain in love.
