i awoke to the sun in my eyes,
peeking through the blinds overhead,
long fingers of light stretched out
over your body, your back arched,
curled into mine -
and i remained there,
admiring the bone of your hip
from your shorts; the
smell of your hair as
it lingered on my lips.
it didn't occur to me
until that night when i left,
your arms tight around me,
too frightened or
too worried or
too in love to let
us go -
you and me,
me and you,
is where we
belong.
